about

Recorded live at Outpost 186 in Cambridge, MA on July 5, 2019. Taken directly from mixing board, recorded 96K/24-bit on Zoom H5, no editing or other post-processing except normalization, equalization, and trimming silence from ends. (PLEASE NOTE: I have replaced this track with a version with better EQ, so if you downloaded this before July 8, 2019 at approximately 7am EDT, consider re-downloading for a better sounding version.)

Inspired by Sunn O))), in particular the album Life Metal.

This piece employs the Implication Organ (aka IO), a Csound program running on a Raspberry PI with Pisound, with additional live processing.

For this piece the IO used Kraig Grady's Centaur scale in just intonation, tuned to 60Hz. The duophonic output of the IO was processed by a stereo pedal configuration consisting of Boss Super Octave OC3 (2), Digitech Grunge (2), and Red Panda Particle.

The additional generated chordal output from the IO was processed by a modular system (primarily Mutable Systems Rings and Make Noise QPAS) and then through an E-H Deluxe Memory Man with Hazarai.

All sounds originate from the IO except for a supplemental drone (heard by itself at the very beginning and ending) made with Make Noise DPO. Notes triggered by a McMillen K-Board.
